55 Greene Street Facade Restoration Completed

After an award-winning restoration in 1995, the Gunther building facade was restored to its former glory.

54 Greene Street Facade Restoration is in Progress

The Neo-Classical style cast iron and brick masonry building was designed and constructed circa 1873 by architect J.F. Duckworth. We are proud to be the architects for this first historically accurate restoration of the facade.

The Ground Below - Far Rock Competition

The rising waters make us realize the importance of preserving the ground below. We are proposing the restoration of the barrier island edge, approx.1500 affordable and mixed income housing unit, 80 acres of dune and nature preserve as well as commercial/recreational facilities.  A new transportation hub in Atlantic Avenue is proposed to make this area more accesible with a new high-speed train.

The Water Mile - Detroit

Detroit waterfront is the gateway to the world's greatest source of fresh water. We propose a new wetland in the hearth of the city to purify the storm water run off and air pollution cause by the Detroit Windsdor Tunnel with a photo-bio-reactor.

Gowanus Waterworks Community Center

The Gowanus watershed has the potential to become the heart of five flourishing neighborhoods in Brooklyn. This new net-zero carbon footprint building is designed to provide a park, swimming and sports facilities as well as a state of the art water treatment facility for the region.

Brussels Courthouse - Une Vie Plus Ouverte et Verte!

The monumental plinth of the palace of justice has been transformed to give access to pedestrians and to connect the bottom of the hill to Pl. Polaert. The Plaza is re-designed with carefully definied public spaces and parks. The new reduced program for the court house allows the use of well-proportioned interior spaces of the palace by the public.

BKAA received the 2008 AIA New York State Award of Excellence

On September 26th, BKAA was presented with the AIA NYS Award of Excellence for the Chocolate Factory, a mixed use development at 325-329 West Broadway in NYC. The Project consists of a new 9 story residential building with commercial spaces at the ground level and restoration of two circa 1900 building facades on Wooster Street. A central courtyard will link the buildings and provide a simple garden for contemplation. The jury announced: "This is an elegant design that expresses its context in the industrial past of Soho, especially the sophisticated facade with interesting panel details."
